About the event

Purposeful leadership: effective and ethical boards

Academy Ambassadors Annual Board Development Day takes place in London this year on 11th November 2019.

This flagship event brings together non-executive directors and chairs from multi-academy trusts across England for a day of professional development, topical discussion and networking. Confirmed speakers include: Gaenor Bagley, Chair-elect at The Kemnal Academies Trust and NED at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office.

The day is hosted by David Ross, Founder and Sponsor of The David Ross Education Trust and co-founder of The Carphone Warehouse Group plc.

MAT board members will have the opportunity to share best practice, gain insight from world-class trusts and take away practical board-level tools. Delegates are encouraged to ask any burning questions and network with sector leaders, peers and business leaders, including Chairs, Regional Schools Commissioners and senior Education and Skills Funding Agency staff.

Agenda Overview

An opportunity to hear from Ministers and education leaders about the new schools landscape and the opportunities it presents to your trust to improve outcomes for your pupils.

The event includes structured opportunities to network with trust and business leaders in your region - including other non-executives/trustees and Chairs, Regional Schools Commissioners and senior Education and Skills Funding Agency Directors.

One to one advice available from partner organisations such as Ambition Institute, Financial Times Board Director Programme, Careers and Enterprise Company and the National Governance Association. There will also be ‘trust growth and development surgeries’ for trusts going through critical growth points.

Speakers include world-class academy trust leaders who will give insight to the practical work of their trust board. The focus is on governance and the content highly tailored to those from a non-education background.

"I thought the day went very well – it had a buzz and energy … we received some good buy ins from the NEDS around the table to engage in future financial efficiency work and they completely understood their challenge role on this important agenda"

 - Deputy Director

The day comprises plenary keynotes from leaders across the political, education and business spectrum, workshops and small ‘surgery sessions’ that provide the opportunity to problem-solve with other trusts and leading educational and government organisations.
Further details of these sessions and how to reserve your place, will be provided in due course.

This is a full day conference. Registration will open at 9.15am with welcome refreshments and the conference programme will start at 10.00 am.

The full agenda will be available shortly.
